When Compassion Runs Low

Therefore, as God's people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity." Colossians 3:12-14

The truth is we are all God's people, every person on this earth. Some may be adrift in their minds, but this does not make them less loved by God than we are. The original article I read was aimed at mothers, but it certainly applies to every one every day. There are so many things that stir us to anger, but it profits us nothing to get lost in that anger. Compassion and love is the only way that we will win free.

I have used the word God through all of this, as was done with the originator, but you may substitute whatever name suits your belief system. I admit freely that the Christian Bible KJV is the source of this post, but a truth is a truth, regardless of who spoke it. I find that most great teachers such as Jesus, Buddha, and Mohammad all have the same teachings in their repertoire. I just have easier access to a Christian Bible.
I'd like to share the 5 Verses that Jen Deible posted on her blog thebettermom.com. I found these to have a wider impact than just for moms, and wanted to share the wider aspect with my friends.  I left the bible content as is, but expanded the prayer to encompass a wider meaning that applies to humanity in its entirety.
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." Proverbs 15:1
Dear God, let my answers be gentle. Remove any harshness from my words, from my heart, from my spirit. Let me not be one who stirs up anger in the world, rather one who can turn away wrath and cultivate gentleness. Amen.
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone." Colossians 4:6
Dear God, season my words with your Salt and let them "taste" good to those who receive them. Fill my conversations and words with grace. Help me know how to answer everyone...for there are so many questions to be answered in life. Amen.
Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight." Psalm 119:77
God, I know that I cannot give what I do not possess. Let Your Compassion fall fresh on me today, Lord. Minute by minute, that I might live fully in the light of your Grace and that I might be a tangible extension of that Compassion to my family, and the world. Amen.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." 2 Corintians 1:3-4
How wonderful you are, God! Thank you for comforting me in my times of need - in sadness, anger, frustration and fatigue. Please help me to use that comfort to be a comfort and encouragement to the world as they experience their own time of struggle. Amen.
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity." Colossians 3:12-14
Oh Father, how I need your help! Help me to put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience minute by minute. Let that be what others see when they look at me. And help me to forgive myself for any negative thoughts that I have of others. Cover me with Love of God and all living beings. You are Love, so fit yourself over me that all these things would come together in unity to help me be the extension of your love that you intended me to be. Amen.

Sahasrara-Crown Chakra Exercises

Do not perform any exercise without first consulting a physician to ascertain your physical ability to do so safely.

The exercises contain hyperlinks that I have inserted. These go to demonstrations of how the poses should be done to insure safety. They also contain precautions that need to be considered before performing the pose, and may contain alternative and aides for safe performance.

Beginning Yoga Poses

Sitting Mountain  This link also includes other seated poses that work well for beginners, and people who may need more support with poses.

Child’s Pose  This is a good beginner’s pose; however, if you have problems with your knees do not perform this pose.

Short Meditation

This is the one I’m sure you have all been waiting for, NOT.  hehehe.  This meditation uses the mantra OM.

In the Rg-veda  we find the following information;
om ity etad brahmano nedistam nama yasmad uccaryamana
eva samsara-bhayat tarayati tasmad-ucyate tara iti
om asya jananto nama cid-viviktan mahaste visno
sumatim bhajamahe om tat sat
tato 'bhut trird-omkaro yo 'vyakta prabhavah svarat
yat tal-lingam bhagavato brahmanah paramatmanah

The English translation is; "One who chants om,  which is the closest form of Brahman, approaches Brahman.  This liberates one from the fear of the material world, therefore it is known as tarak brahman.

"O Vishnu your self-manifest name, om, is the eternal form of cognizance. Even if my knowledge about the glories of reciting this name is incomplete, still, by the practice of reciting this name I will achieve that perfect knowledge.

"He who has unmanifest potencies and is fully independent, manifests the vibration om kara, which indicates Himself. Brahman, Paramatma, and Bhagavan  are the three forms He manifests."

It is not necessary to have a belief in any religion to benefit from the chanting of OM as a mantra.

Short Meditation

First you need to ground and relax.  Use whichever methods you have found that suits you best.  (There are many examples in the previous chakra posts on this site). Shut your eyes and visualize the crown chakra connecting you to the universe.  See graphic at the beginning of this article to get a visual of the vortex that is at the crown of the head. Feel the spin of this chakra as it draws in the natural energy around it, and releases the universal energy that connects it to the universe.  Take a deep inhale and vibrate the verbalization of the mantra OM slowly and end it with the end of the exhalation.  This OM should vibrate your whole body.  It should vibrate similar to the chimes of an old floor clock.  Take another deep breath and repeat the Mantra OM.  This should be at evenly spaced intervals similar to the regular chiming of the clock.  Repeat this seven times.  Focus your attention on your crown chakra as you perform this Mantra.  Most times when I perform this mantra, I can see the violet of this crown chakra swirling in my mind.

Further study on the OM mantra

4. Sound Vibration of the Universe-follow this link to a good article on the chakra http://swamij.com/om-mantra.htm#sound

The article of this link deals mainly with the origins of the universe as defined by the Hindu religion, but as many of the origin stories go, it begins with the verbalization of sound by the source energy. That sound is OM. http://www.omsakthi.org/worship/mantra.html

Consider This, Do Something Different

  • Do you follow the familiar thought and behavior patterns?   Try something different.  If you keep doing what you’re doing you will keep getting what you got.
  • Does your personal identification begin and end with your job or economic status?  List words describing the essential you.  Add to the list daily.
  • Can you find time to meditate daily?  This is key to enlightenment.
  • Do you have a spiritual context to hold the painful experiences of life? It is not just a religious thing that needs to be considered. Many people do not claim any religious affiliation, but have a very close relationship with their source energy. Whichever path you have chosen should support you during times of spiritual need. If you don't presently have one it is time to consider examining the many paths that are available, and you will find one or a combination of many that will lead you to a closer relationship with that which is your source.
  • Do you need anything to happen to make you feel blissful, or does the mere thought of your source produce a blissful state?  There are many ways to reach your bliss, I hope that we have discussed many of them during this process that have shown you were and how to find your bliss.

Things I Love to do to Connect With Source
  • Use things around the house create an altar to help balance this chakra.  Remember the correspondences.  Use violet or white pieces, and crystals if you have them handy, otherwise just find things around the house like pieces of clothing, towels, scarves, pictures, candles all have a place on the altar.  Use whatever reminds you of your quest; those things that may aid the connection with your higher power and those things that hinder it.   This might not take the form of a typical ritual setup, and that is OK.  We are creating a meditation spot for the balancing of a chakra, so it will be slightly different.  You may want to use just a little TV tray, night stand or patio table for this.  This will allow you to stop on the way by for a quick visualization exercise.
  • Now that you have put together the altar, it is ready for a quick meditation to help balance the chakra.  This is one of my favorites, and I like to just keep the bliss going as long as possible.  Visualize the nice violet chakra vortex vibrating at such a rapid motion that is seems to be solid the motion may not even be visible to your eye.  Visualize pleasure and joy stemming from the area of this chakra.  Feel that violet, white energy and pleasure rise up from the crown. Feel the shiver of energy and bliss as it passes through the crown and flows upward to connect with your higher power.  Feel the energy then flow back to you, and coarse through your body setting it all to tingle.  Feel the source energy reinforce your aura with the violet light of the infinite, unconditional love, holding you in its loving protective arms.  This is the rapture.  I believe this is the vibration level that we reach, and permanently maintain when we choose to integrate with the source energy once again.
  • Two of my favorite teachers have both said that the need to know why things happen as they do causes us to live in the past.  We worry and wonder why we are the way we are.  Why we do the things we do?  What happened to us to make us the way we are?  If you had the kind of life I had you would be miserable too.  As you can see the focus is on the past, which does not allow us to look at what is really happening Right Now.
  • Dealing with now is what will destroy our erroneous beliefs about self, and replace it with the reality of our existence and quirks.  So today deal with now.  Look at things one moment at a time.  Is there anything that is immediately a danger, or harmful?  Are you without a roof over your head?  Do you have enough to eat?  If you answered all of these in the affirmative, then you have cause for joy and happiness.  You have the necessities of life.  We make our choices about how we will feel about our situation.  If you are focused on the material, fleshly world, you are doomed to compare and always feel shortchanged somehow.  If you focus on the spiritual things of life, you will know joy and bliss, regardless of your station in life.  See your walk with your deity.  Know your own divinity.  Let negativity pass through you, and see it for what it is, and just let it pass. You may want to name it for what it is. I call mine Shempa, the Buddhist word for the hook that reels you in to the negative thoughts and hold you there; You are hooked. When you recognize it as having no basis in reality, it passes without taking residence in your mind. Then move on with the reality that is right now. There are rarely problem in the now, but if there is, that is the time to deal with it. Look at it, and decide what you can do right now to fix it. Do that, and let it go.

Sahasrara- Crown Chakra Introduction

What & Where

The crown chakra is associated with the pineal gland, which is in the mid-brain below the cerebral hemisphere.  It produces melatonin and regulates our body clock.  The qualities of this chakra are bliss, beauty and spirituality.  This is the chakra that allows us to feel good and loved.  This is where we know that we are extensions of God's, and that all living things are connected in this love.

Main Function

I am one with God. "I will pause for a moment and go home". These words activate my connection to the Father, and a wave of pleasure and recognition courses through my body and I know the pleasure of being loved by the Father, and the feeling of home and completeness.  It is a brief example of what eternity is like at home with the source of my creation. It is time to get to know who and what you are.  We are all extensions of God our Father's love.   This Chakra is about contact with the love in all of us that returns us to our natural home where we have never really left except by the crazy thought of separation from our source.

Happiness and abundance can be ours and balancing the seventh chakra will help.  It matters little what form your spirituality takes; what matters is that you establish the connection to that within you which is the communication link to our source.  By knowing and accepting that our lives are in the hands of  the source energy, we surrender our fears and burdens. We learn through this to deal with pain, loss, and separation by forgiving our brothers in Christ for our imagined hurts.  We know that we are eternal, and that the body is just a temporary vehicle for our spirit which we created with a thought of separation from God.  To paraphrase Wayne Dyer, “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.”  This chakra is where that realization becomes most real to us.  By accepting that we are divinely guided by the Holy Spirit we lighten up.  We become healthier and are able to live in this illusion like we should.  Honoring the divine within allows us to know we are never alone and that we are guided, loved and that we have never left the protection of our Father.

This Chakra is about connectedness with the source energy of the universe and the attainment of true happiness that is from within oneself, and not from outside material sources.

People that have opened their crown chakra describe it as bliss, rapture, and ecstasy.  Meditation is the key to your bliss.  It doesn’t matter what type of meditation you choose as long as you spend some time with a quiet mind in connection with the Holy Spirit our guide to letting go of this world and going home. It is then that we will recognize that what we truly are never left home to begin with, and have rested comfortably in love and peace with the Father.

Related Bodily Functions

Our deep inner cycles such as sleep, happiness, and tranquility are influenced by the pineal gland.

Over Active

Psychotic or manic depressive (Bi-Polar), confused sexual expression, frustrated, sense of unrealized power.  The perfect analogy for this over active chakra is The Brain from the Cartoon Pinkie and The Brain.

Under Active

Constantly exhausted, can’t make decisions, no sense of “belonging”

Balanced

Magnetic personality, forgives his/her brothers and sisters easily as he know this world is an illusion, achieves “miracles” in life, transcendent, at peace with self.

Some Things to Consider

Answers these questions for yourself.

  • Can you open yourself to the love, guidance, and protection of a force greater than yourself?
  • What are your highest spiritual truths about yourself, life, death, forgiveness, and change?
  • Can you recognize all humans as you brothers as they are also extensions of God's love, and are perfect in his eyes?
  • Do you need anything to happen to feel your bliss?
  • Do you need others to change to feel your bliss?
  • Can you let go of external conditions being right to feel your bliss?
  • Are you willing to let go of your attachment to the negative things in your life to be in bliss?
  • Are you willing to forgive your brothers and yourself for they are struggling with this life in the same way you are.

Symbol

The symbol for the Crown Chakra is the light violet lotus of 1000 petals.  The petals are arranged in twenty rows of fifty which contain the fifty letters of the Sanskrit alphabet.  Inside the lotus are the mandalas for the full moon and sun.  The mandalas are the symbol of the integration of the female and male energy.

Anja-Brow Chakra-Functional Archetype-Intuitive

The intuitive is being developed more and more by people as we move into the Aquarian age where spirituality is being developed as never before. The intuitive lives life knowing that the inner voice is there to guide and assist them as they travel their life path. I believe it is the way that God speaks to us, and guides us. All that is needed is to listen, and trust the inner voice that tells us what we need to know. All knowledge is available to us if we listen to our inner voice.

If we listen, the advice is there for the taking. Many people are afraid to listen, and questions the advice that comes from the inner voice because they don’t trust it. Often that inner voice gives us information or advice that we just don’t want to take, because it seems hard or doesn't sit well with what we KNOW (intellectualizing).

It takes trust in our intuition to move into the Intuitive. Trust that, in order to move past the obstacles in life, all you need to do is listen to your intuition. Trust the inner voice, it will guide you through the rough times and good times. It has your best interest at heart.

“The Intuitive has a deep understanding of the inner core of life and how people, who are not in touch with that core, can be lost in the web of their illusions. It knows that things are not always what they appear to be on the surface and it accepts both the fragility and strength of human nature. It knows that limitation is a part of the natural process of development and at the same time it encourages everyone to be positive and develop their full potential. The Intuitive is a loving and supportive contributor to everyone’s well-being.” Chakras and Their Archetypes~~ by Ambika Wauters

An intuitive that has developed their ability, knows what is at the heart of things. They can look at the inner workings, and see what is there. They read the signs, people and objects and understand what they are seeing. It knows the difference between ego based nonsense, and truth of a situation from the perspective of love. This is the seat of wisdom.

We can all open our intuitive self and live life from that inner wisdom. With practice and continued use, we will all be living life from the seat of wisdom that is within us.

Anja—The Dysfunctional Archetype—The Intellectual

The perfect analogy for the archetype of the Intellectual is also the scientist.  They deal in facts, figures, and theories.  It is strictly right brain thinking, and they do not trust or wish to consider the left brain functions (intuition, creativity).  The contrasts between the intellectual and the functional archetype of the Intuitive (a great analogy is the psychic detective) is one that bears some discussion here.

The Intellectual spends time theorizing, analyzing and gathering facts.  They make decisions based on their end analysis, without giving any thought to their feelings about what they do.  In fact, feelings are not something to be considered, as these individuals have suppressed them.  At some point in their early development they have been taught that their feelings have no value, and therefore they have to be suppressed.  In my experience of the business world, I was taught that feelings have no place in the work place.  I have always been one to express my feelings, and you never had any trouble knowing what I felt about something.  However, for years I had tried to suppress this reaction in myself in order to become accepted in the business world.   What happened is that once I suppressed those feelings I became an automaton, I made my decisions based on text book theory regardless of how I “felt” about it.  This resulted in a very cold relationship with those that I supervised, but a winning amount of pay raises for me as an efficient manager.  I have to tell you that this takes a toll on you psyche and physical health.

I'm not saying that intellect doesn't have a place, but it should not completely overshadow the left brain function of intuition.  A balance is needed to make choices based on ALL available data.  This assures that you make decisions that are right for you, and ones that you feel good about.

Overcoming the Dysfunction

Here are some things you can do to improve your intuition

This website has some things that help with the development of intuition. I am truly excited the academia has finally recognized the need for using intuition.

The litany of I AM for intuition:

  • I am intuitive

Only one is necessary here.

ANJA - Throat Chakra Meditation

This is a short visualization meditation. It is one of my favorite meditations, as I have had some problems in the past with talking a LOT. It doesn't creep up very often anymore, but I still practice this meditation to keep it in check. I cycle through all of the meditations for the same reason.

If you have read the previous four chakra meditations, you know the preparation for meditation, so you should follow that routine.  Perform the relaxation technique of your choice.  When you are fully relaxed, and have rested in the quiet spot for a while; begin.

Visualize your throat, and imagine that with each inward breath you can feel the chakra being cleansed.  Take a few breaths now and feel that cleansing energy purify this chakra….Now visualize a ball of blue energy forming in your throat, right at the chakra point.  Breathe into that blue ball of energy.  With each breath the energy expands…it grows to encompass your whole body…..Feel it expand into your outer environment…  Feel the power of this chakra….  Feel your ability to speak your truth….Feel the joy that you get when letting others speak their truth… Remember you don’t have to believe their truth, just afford them the opportunity to express it….Who knows, you may find their truth ringing true for you….Take what truth rings true, and leave behind those that do not match your vibration….One person’s truth is not always another’s truth.  Feel the power that expressing your truth, and listening to other’s truths gives you.  Feel the power of this exchange radiating into the throat chakra… Mentally shout; “Free at last, Free at last, thank God/dess almighty I’m free at last”…..Feel the joy of those word flood your body with the tingle of energy, as you know that you can speak your truth.  You can speak up for yourself with the clear blue energy that radiates from this chakra.  You deserve to express yourself, and to be heard…..Just relax in this energy for a while……..

Bring yourself out of this meditation in whatever manner suits you.

If you enjoyed this meditation please leave a comment and tell me what you liked best about it.
